Timeless style meets functionality
Daniel Lindström about our Wings Long Rain Jacket.
Which is the ultimate outerwear for fall and spring?
There are certainly multiple answers to that question, but for me personally, few garments are more versatile than a classic rain jacket. Ideally, it should be black and a bit longer, like Tretorn's model Wings Long Rainjacket, as you can see in the picture. Despite my love for outdoor activities, I live in an urban environment in Stockholm and travel extensively to other major cities for my job. I mostly dress with a focus on functionality but still want to feel stylish and modern in my clothes. I want outerwear that I can wear with a suit as well as with a pair of jeans and sneakers.
The Wings Long Rain Jacket is a longer version of the classic model Wings. The length provides even better protection in really bad weather and also creates a more stylish look. Wings Long also has a clearer A-line shape, making the fit more relaxed. Additionally, Wings Long features metal snap buttons instead of the traditional raincoat's white plastic buttons and built-in ventilation at the shoulders on the back.
A modern look combined with high functionality – perfect!
Wings has a great history. It was initially a boot made for sailing and coastal life in the 1960s around Tretorn's hometown of Helsingborg. The raincoat with the same name then naturally evolved in the late 1970s and has only been marginally changed since – talk about timeless design! I took my Wings jacket with me on a trip to New York earlier this year. The weather was unpredictable, with downpours mixing with storms, sunshine, and warmth – all at once (as it usually is in that city). The raincoat was a perfect companion in Manhattan, easy to carry around and an extremely good protection when it rains heavily. The black color matched nicely against the wet pavement. (Wings comes in several different colors.) Of course, Wings is developed within the Eco Essentials initiative, which means it has a water-based PU coating, which is positive for the environment. The timeless design also contributes to sustainability – a Wings jacket can last you a lifetime.
